  • Dr. Sarah Kelly is a geographer who directs a research laboratory on water, energy, and culture in the northeast United States and in southern Chile.

  • Sarah is Co-Director of the Energy Justice Clinic at Dartmouth College, affiliated with the Department of Geography and the Irving Institute for Energy and Society.

  • Sarah is an Associate Researcher with the Center for the Integrated Management of Disaster Risks in Santiago de Chile and ANID Postdoctoral Researcher

  • Her participatory research on water, sovereignty, energy, and deep mapping spans a decade of collaboration with Mapuche-Williche communities.

Intercultural Water Transect: Epulafkenmapu

I am part of a multi-year collaboration called “EpuLakfenMapu: Intercultural Transect for the Maihue-Ranco Watershed. I coordinate the technical team of this research collaboration with two Mapuche-Williche women, Antumalen and Claudia Antillanca. The study is guided by Mapuche-Williche leaders and communities throughout the Puelwillimapu territory. The interdisciplinary team includes a marine biologist, botanists, a sociologist, an anthropologist, a filmmaker, and a graphic designer.
